Lady Mendl’s Tea Salon

Lady Mendl’s Tea Salon is nestled in the iconic Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan. I had an early reservation Sunday due to my impending excitement of indulging in an afternoon of tea and crumpets. Lady Mendl’s has a beautiful, whimsical presentation housed in a Georgian Brownstone. Cringing with excitement, I opened the large wooden doors and was immeasurably impressed with the decor. Greeted upon my arrival and allowed to film my aww. The Tea Salon’s ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the tables were set to perfection for Tea. Sticking with a Tea Salon tradition, a pre-fixed menu is offered with all the trimmings for a wonderful Tea service. I started with a delicious cup of creamy toasted coconut tea. The flavor was perfect, extremely smooth tasting with back hints of the coconut. There were also several other choices to try for Tea, but I personally had several cups of luscious coconut tea. I also had to try the Peach Bellini, which was the perfect way to kick off the afternoon. For $65 per person, the Tea Service included:
The seasonal squash soup.
Delightful market sandwiches.
Scones with clotted cream.
Delicious preserves.
There was a delicious 24 layer vanilla cream crepe, petit fours of macaroons, and huge chocolate-covered strawberries to round out the Tea Service. Lady Mendl’s Tea Salon offers more than just your typical tea room; it is a lovely experience full of as many delightful treats you can eat. Sipping and Tasting highly recommends a visit to Lady Mendl’s Tea Salon.
